DAY 1
Reykjavík – Hólmavík – Djúpavík
The day starts with check in at the North Atlantic office at 8:00, tour briefing and departure by minibus from Reykjavík at 9:00 to Hólmavík. On the way we make a short stop in Búðardalur before arriving in Hólmavík. You have some time to strawl arround Djúpavík before embarking Togo. The firs leg of cruise is from Hólmavík to Djúpavík where we will cast of anchor and stay the night. Perfect time to stay out on the deck taking pictures from the yacht and enjoy the summer evening into the night.
DAY 2
Djúpavík – Reykjafjörður
We take the day early and start the day by going ashore in Djúpavík. We will look at an old abandoned fishery that gives great photo moments and perspectives for the enthusiastic photographer.
We go back on board the yacht just before noon and leave Djúpavík heading to Krossnes, which is our next destination after a short cruise, where we go ashore to go for a swim in the famous Krossaneslaug.
We leave Krossanes in the afternoon, heading to Reykjafjörður, where we will cast anchor and stay the night.
On the cruise, we will experience some of the great scenery that the great cliffs and mountains offer us all around the Westfjörds.
DAY 3
Reykjafjörður – Hornvík
We start the day with breakfast at 8:00 and then go ashore in Reykjafjörður where we can go for a stroll and experience nature which amazes people with its flora and great growth of it.
There is a nice tourist operation in this fjord in the summertime, which has an old nice swimming pool for those that would like to go in the nice water and hot tub.
We head to the yacht near noon and pull anchor at noon before heading to Hornvík, which is our next destination, where we will cast anchor to go ashore and stay the night.
Hornvík is famous for its spectacular nature and the peak Hornbjarg, which is a dream for many to reach the top. To be able to reach the top, people need to go on a hiking tour starting from Ísfjörður or rent a helicopter on this tour to take you near the peak.
We enjoy the afternoon ashore in this beautiful remote place and go aboard the yacht just before dinner for a nice evening on board.
DAY 4
Hornvík – Hesteyri
We take this day early and cast of at 8:00. It’s nice to start with breakfast and go on to the deck with a nice cup of coffee and watch the great cliffs on the way. Hælavíkurbjarg is the most famous in these parts but we will also cruise passed Hlöðuvík and many other great places on our way to Aðalvík.
We arrive in Aðalvík around noon and go ashore right after lunch. Aðalvík is a place that you can only reach by sea. Hiking the Hornstrandir is top of the list for many hikers. We have about 5 hrs. to enjoy this amazing place and offer a 2 hr. hike for those that like to experience that but others can enjoy easy walks along the beach and up to the mountains.
We head back to Togo late in the afternoon and start getting ready for dinner. After dinner it’s great to go out on the deck and enjoy the scenery on our way to Hesteyri where we will cast anchor for the night.
DAY 5
Hesteyri – Bolungarvík – Dynjandi
Like so many days on board, we start with breakfast at 8:00. At the same time, the crew starts to prepare for the cruise around Jökulfirði (Glacier fjords) formed by five fjords, Hesteyrarfjordur, Veiðileysufjörður, Lónafjörður, Hrafnsfjörður, and Leirufjörður. This is a very nice cruise, and it is great to see these narrow fjords between the high and steep mountains.
Around noon, we start crossing Ísfjarðardjúp on our way over to Bolungarvík. We will arrive in Bolungarvík around 14:00 and dock at the harbor. We will be picked up by a bus that will take us up to the magnificent Bolafjall, where we will go onto the platform to embrace the magnificent ocean view and sometimes over the clouds on cloudy days.
After the sightseeing tour, the group has a few hours to stroll around Bolungarvík before we cast off around 19:00 and start our cruise to the shore beneath the waterfall Dynjandi in Arnarfjörður.
DAY 6
Dynjandi – Látrabjarg – Grundarfjörður
We expect to arrive in Dynjandi around 4:00, and as soon as we cast off, we start preparing to cruise ashore on zodiacs and go for an easy hike up to the waterfall Dynjandi.
The plan is to be on board around noon for lunch and cast of by 13:00.
From Arnarfjordur we head to the great Látrabjarg where we will arrive in the afternoon. We slowly cruise under this magnificent cliff.
Látrabjarg is the biggest ocean cliff in Iceland 14 km long and 441 m at the highest point. Látrabjarg is also the biggest birdcliff in Europe. As such the birdlife can be great to watch. You can expect to see puffins, northern gannets, razorbills.
After cruising under Látrabjarg we will pass Rauðasandur before we start crossing Breiðafjörður on our way to Grundarfjörður.
Please notice that the ship on the picture in Arnarfjörður is Argus our Icebreaker but you will be going on with Togo.
DAY 7
Grundarfjörður – Reykjavík
We should be arriving close to 6:00 in the morning in Grundarfjörður.
After a nice breakfast and finish packing the group will disembark and go on a bus for sightseeing over to the famous Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellsfoss.
The group will leave Grundarfjörður at 13:00 heading to Reykjavík.
